Subscription Update Obituary

     Antoinette C. Salemmo, 92, a lifelong resident of Worcester, passed away Tuesday, May 4th, 2021 after a period of declining health.

Antoinette was born in Worcester, November 10, 1928, one of seven children of Italian immigrants Antonio and Rose (Mincione) Salemmo.  Raised on Elizabeth Street in a three family house with family members on all floors, she graduated from Commerce High School and lived in her childhood home all her life.

Antoinette worked in the housekeeping department of St Vincent Hospital many years before retiring.  She previously worked for Capital Shoe and Lindquist Tool & Die.

She is survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family members who loved her dearly.   In addition to her parents, Antoinette was predeceased by her companion of seven years, Ronald Jakubiak, her best friends and pets Rubin and Snowball, brothers, Ralph, Andrew, and Louis “Chiz” Salemmo, and sisters, Angelina Aiello, Christine Palumbo, and Margaret Cook.

Antoinette was a gentle, kind woman who enjoyed the trips to the casino and Atlantic City, the beach, cooking , notably her specialty eggplant, family gatherings and holidays.    Her TV favorites were watching the Red Sox, the Patriots, and the daytime soap operas, Days of Our Lives  and General Hospital.    She was devoted to her Catholic faith and a member of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church.

Funeral services and burial will be held privately.   The MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St is honored to assist the family with arrangements.
