Anna Mildred (Benway) Tetreault passed away Friday, January 25, 2013 at the Lutheran Rehabilitation Center in Worcester.
Anna was born October 9, 1932 in Fair Haven, VT to Norris and Mildred Benway. She moved to Worcester after her mother’s death in 1946. Anna attended Commerce High School. She had numerous stays at the Belmont Home through her teen years due to tuberculosis, which led to a lung removal in 1969.
Anna married Robert Tetreault in July, 1954. The couple raised six children and also cared for several foster infants. They lived in Worcester until 2001, then in Spencer for eight years, and finally in Leicester for nearly four years.
Anna had a great love for babies. She enjoyed card games with family and friends. She liked crocheting, crosswords, music and watching sports. Among the places Anna worked were Elmwood Manor Nursing Home and Highland Manor Rest Home where she cooked for many years. Anna had been a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Worcester.
Anna leaves her husband of 58 years, Robert Tetreault Sr.; sons Stephen Tetreault and his wife Halina of Worcester, Michael Tetreault and his wife Audrey of Altamont, NY, and Robert Tetreault Jr. of Madison, AL; daughters Patricia Senecal and her husband Jeffrey of Leicester, with whom Anna lived, Michelle Grudzinski and her husband William of Charlton, and Beth Goven of Holden. She also leaves her brothers Charles Benway and his wife Muriel of Bethlehem, PA, Bryan Benway and his wife Claire of Worcester, and David Benway and his wife Brenda of Vicksburg, MS. Anna was predeceased by a grandson, Michael Tetreault and a sister, Dana Smyer. She also leaves 17 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Anna was devoted to her family and will be fondly remembered by the countless lives she touched.
Anna’s family wishes to thank the staff of VNA Hospice, especially Holly Biedrzycki, Elder Services of Worcester, Rose Monahan Hospice Home, and Lutheran Rehabilitation Center for all their assistance and loving care through a most difficult time.
Contributions in Anna’s memory may be made to VNA Care Network Hospice or Lutheran Rehabilitation & Skilled Care Center.
Funeral services will be private. There are no calling hours. The Athy Memorial Home, Worcester, is directing arrangements.
