Ann M. (Gunderman) Degon, 93 of Millbury, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 17, 2023 at the Saint Francis Home in Worcester, surrounded by her family.

Ann’s husband of 69 years, Marvin E. Degon Jr., predeceased her. Ann was the mother of seven children: Patricia Roy of Holden, Marvin E. Degon III and his wife Kathleen of Florida, Curtis P. Degon and his wife Patricia of Worcester, Tina Kingsley of Webster, Kelly Martin and her husband Richard of Auburn, Tracy Degon of Webster, and Amanda Degon of Worcester. She also leaves 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, sisters Isabell Vrusho and her husband Robert of Worcester, Catherine Reid of Auburn, Edward Gunderman of Auburn, along with nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by sister, Mary MacLean and her spouse John MacLean, brother Bartholomew Gunderman and his spouse Patricia Gunderman, brother-in-law James Reid, and son-in-law Richard F. Roy.

Ann was born in Worcester, the daughter of Christopher and A. Isabell (Miles) Gunderman of Worcester. She grew up in Worcester and raised her family in Auburn before moving to Millbury.

Ann attended Auburn High School until becoming employed by Norton Company in the Administrative Department. In 1950, she married and started her family.

Ann was known for being a well-respected newspaper reporter in the town of Auburn for many years. Later in her career Ann became a publisher of her own newspaper publication, Curtis Publications in honor of her father. Not only was Ann a newspaper reporter, she was also the co-founder of the Auburn Lassie League with Father John Cahill.

Ann was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Auburn, and then later Our Lady of Lourdes of Worcester. She remained a great sports fan throughout her life and was especially devoted to her family.

The funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, November 30, at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church, 194 Oxford St., Auburn. Burial will follow immediately at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. There are no calling hours.
