Andrew J. Levasseur Sr., 85, of Worcester passed away peacefully in Saint Vincent Hospital on Wednesday, November 11th surrounded by his loving family.

Andy is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Maureen M. (Gauthier) Levasseur; his 5 children, Andrew Levasseur Jr. and his wife, Heide of East Brookfield, Donna Daley of Newark, OH, Michael Levasseur and his wife, Darlene of Webster, Paul Levasseur and his wife, Nadene of Webster and Cherie Lavoie and her husband, John of Worcester; 12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; many cousins, including Anne Oman, Marguerite Rickerson, Simone Bernard, Edward Paquette and Joseph “Butch” Paquette with whom he considered his siblings.

Mr. Levasseur was born in Mexico, Maine son of the late Ricard and Anna Rose (Paquette) Levasseur and is also predeceased by a sister, May Buck; a son-in-law, Brian Daley, his Uncle Roland and Aunt Melanie “Minnie”, and his best friend and canine companion, “Sneakers”. Andy served in the Army National Guard and worked for 35 years at the former Coes Knife Company and then finished his career with the L. Hardy Knife Company.

Andy centered his life around his family and cherished the times that he had with them and was affectionately known to all as “Papa”. He especially enjoyed playing football with his sons and volleyball and softball with his daughters when they were younger. Andy and Maureen always looked forward to camping and spent many summers with their children at Applewood Campground in Charlton and countless picnics at Howe Park. When his children got older it was not uncommon for them to be sitting around a table with their father playing poker, cribbage or watching the Red Sox or Patriots games.

Mr. Levasseur loved to be outdoors and could often be found fishing, both in the warmer weather and on the ice in the middle of winter.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the amazing doctors, nurses, and patient care assistants at St. Vincent’s Hospital for their exceptional care of our father and for their compassion towards his family.
