Alson and Ethel Dow are without a doubt the greatest grandparents one could ever have. Twenty plus years since their passing, a day rarely passes that I don't fondly think of them. So much of what I am is because of values instilled in me by the many visits to their home in Worcester and summers spent at their summer cottage in West Dennis, MA. Not only were we grandchildren always welcome but our friends were also welcome in their home. Ethel was a 5th grade school teacher, outgoing, fun and loving. Alson was a gentle, quite man who oh so loved his Caribbean cruises in the fall and the summer home on the Cape in the summer. He was a neat freak proud of the crease in his pants, which he claimed could cut your finger and the shine on his shoes. We can all remember the tears in her eyes standing by the split rail fence on Reagn Rd as we grand kids piled into the family station wagon to head home after a weekend at their house on the cape. It certainly is true that no one is truely dead as long as their memories remain alive.
