Subscription Update Obituary

     Almerico Pandolfi, 92, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 13, 2015. He was born in Genestreto, Italy, the son of Antonio and Vittoria (Drudi) Pandolfi and immigrated to the United States with his family in 1929.

His loving wife of 55 years, Ottolie C. (Gregarczyk) Pandolfi, passed away in 2002. He is survived by two sons, Alan J. Pandolfi and his wife, Linda of Green Valley, AZ and John Pandolfi and his wife, Bernardine of Oxford; a sister, Doloris Pandolfi of Jefferson; a granddaughter, Linda DeMacedo and her husband, Christiano; five great-grandsons, Leonardo, Tristan, Maximus, John and Logan; and nephews and nieces.

Almerico was a shipfitter third class in the U.S. Navy during World War II serving aboard the USS Jouett (DD-396) in the European African Middle Eastern Theater. He was a member of the Laborers’ International Union of North American Local 243 in Worcester and worked for Francis Harvey & Sons for forty years before retiring in 1984. Almerico was a soft spoken generous person who always put the needs of others first. He was an avid sportsman and a diehard Red Sox and Patriot’s fan. He enjoyed gardening, camping, fishing and spending time with family and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a calling hour on Saturday, Feb. 28, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. A private committal service will be held on Monday at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart/American Stroke Association, P.O. Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13220-3049.
