Alice (Zaterka) Fryc, 79, of 255 Millbury Street died last night in St. Vincent Hospital. Her husband, Andrew C. Fryc, died in 1977.

She leaves two sons, Andrew R. Fryc of Worcester, born in Holyoke, and Walter R. Fryc of Riverside, Calif., born in Worcester; a daughter, Elaine T. McKay of Worcester, born in Holyoke; two brothers, Theophile Zaterka of Dennis and Emilian Zaterka of Worcester; a sister Johanna Babyok of South Hadley Falls, and five grandchildren.  Two brothers, Leon and William pre-deceased her.

Born in Holyoke, she was the youngest daughter of Stanley and Veronika (Feret) Zaterka, and lived in Worcester since 1942.  Stanley was born in the Ukraine and lived from 1875 to 1948, and Veronika was born in Austria and lived from 1876 to 1959.

Alice worked in a textile mill in Holyoke when she twelve years old.  She supported the family home in South Hadley Falls during the Depression.  She met her husband Andrew Fryc in Holyoke. They were married in 1935 and married until her husband died, for forty two years.

Alice had many interests: she loved people, she played the harmonica and the mandolin, she knew sign language, she like crocheting and embroidering, bingo, bowling, movies, trips to the ocean, eating out and dancing with husband Andy, and singing in the Church Choir in Holyoke.  She was a homemaker and caretaker for her husband.  She had eye problems at age 53, blind in one eye, and limited vision in the other.

Her mission on earth completed at age 79. – God called her home…
