Alice (Bubon) Michniewicz, 89, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2023 in Murrieta, California with her family at her side.
Alice was born in Palmer, Massachusetts, the daughter of Polish immigrants Albert J. Bubon and Bertha P. (Koss) Bubon. She moved to Worcester in 1935 and lived there until her move to California in 2002 to be closer to her two children. She graduated from Commerce High School, Salter’s Secretarial School, and Fisher College where she earned a degree in business administration.
Alice was employed as a cost accountant at Tucker and Rice before working in the human resources department at Westboro Nursing Center and Sears until retiring. She also held a few part time jobs including WCIS bank and Lederman’s Bakery.
Alice was very strong in her faith and active in the Catholic church where she served as the Vice-President of Divine Mercy at St. Martha’s Catholic Church in Murrieta, California. She loved to travel relishing all new adventures, and she enjoyed camping, being at the beach, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Alice had a warm heart, a loving nature, and a sense of humor that drew others to her. Everyone who met her and knew her loved her, and everyone called her Babcia (Polish for Grandmother) because she instantly became family to all. She inspired us all with her love, strength, and humor throughout her life. She will be missed greatly.
She is survived by her two children: Susan (Michniewicz) Rhine and her husband Chris of Murrieta, California, her son Joseph A. Michniewicz and his wife, Katherine of Encinitas, California, three grandchildren, Nick Rhine of Oxford, North Carolina, Christine Morrissey of Menifee, California, and Jeffrey Michniewicz of Encinitas, California, five great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
