Albert R. Pirani, 84, beloved husband of Barbara A. (Marsh) Pirani, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, February 15, 2019. Born and raised in Worcester, he was a son of Mario and Ida (Borghi) Pirani.
Albert used the skills he learned as a graduate of Worcester Boy’s Trade High School and was a master electrician for over 44 years. He was employed by Joseph G. Pirani and the Local 96 Electrical Union. He was a faithful and active member of St. George Church. In his younger years, Albert served as President of the Chaffin’s Recreational Association, coached a youth basketball and baseball team, and served the community by assisting in many town events including yearly carnivals. Albert was an excellent woodworker and his work can be found in the homes of his wife and all of his children. Albert was recognized with a Good Neighbor Award presented to him by the Town of Holden. In his spare time he enjoyed bowling and playing golf with his friends.
He will be lovingly missed and remembered by his wife of 62 years, Barbara; two sons, William Pirani and his wife, Eileen of Wading River, NY and Gary Pirani and his wife, Lissette of Holden; his daughter, Gayle Akillian and her husband, William of Holden; a brother, Ronald Pirani and his wife, Lois of Worcester, five grandchildren, Eric, Bryan, Sara, Steven and Christopher; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Albert was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph and Walter Pirani.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Tuesday, February 19 in St. George Church, 38 Brattle Street, Worcester. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. George Church, 40 Brattle Street, Worcester, MA 01606 or to the American Heart Association, PO Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241-7005. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden.
