Subscription Update Obituary

Albert “Fred” Gildert,89, of Wheelwright, formerly of Spencer, died Monday, March 31st. at UMASS Memorial Medical Center in Worcester. His wife, Elizabeth A. (Mitchell) Gildert, died in 2014. He leaves his son; W. Dean Gildert and his wife Darlene of New Braintree, his daughter; Catherine Holmes and her husband William of Barre, his sister; Gloria Smith of Nashua, NH., his grandchildren; Lindsey Holmes-O’Donoghue and her husband Drew and Chad Holmes and his wife Chelsea, great grandchildren; Ford, Indy Jolene, Shea, Ari Sloan & Rocko Brook, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a brother; Alliston Gildert in 1979. Fred worked at the former Reed, Rolled Thread & Die in Holden for many years, prior to his retirement in 2021.

Fred was born in Presque Isle, ME, the son of Albert H. and Julia (Brown) Gildert and later served his country with the US Marine Corps during the Korean War. He enjoyed gardening, wood working, bowling and camping. 

Private funeral services and burial with Military Honors will be held in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. There are no calling hours.
