Agnes (Ryder) Killelea, 87, of Notre Dame du Lac, 555 Plantation St., died Friday, June 4, 2004, in Fairlawn Rehabilitation Hospital, Worcester, after an illness. Her husband of 41 years, George Killelea, died in 1983. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Ellen Killelea of Shrewsbury; a son, Kevin Killelea, of Paxton, and his wife Donna of Paxton; four grandchildren, Brian and Kathryn Killelea, Benjamin and Vanessa Muscente; a niece and three nephews. A sister, Mary Ryder Harvey, and brother John Ryder, predeceased her. She was born in Clinton, daughter of Patrick and Ellen (Salmon) Ryder.
Mrs. Killelea graduated from Worcester State College and taught in the Worcester Public Schools and Anna Maria College in Paxton. She was a member of the Consortium of Speakers for Catholic Colleges. She served as president of the Guild of Our Lady of Providence, first president of the Worcester Public School Secretaries before her appointment as teacher, president of the Immaculate Conception Church Guild and president of the Briarwood Association.
During her lifetime, she was active as a volunteer at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Massachusetts Society for the Blind, Altrusa and the City of Worcester’s Commission on Women. She was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Association, Delta Kappa Gamma, and served on the board of Worcester Senior Citizens and the Fallon Lifetime Center. She was one of the organizers of the first Irish Parades in Worcester. She enjoyed traveling, reading, and playing bridge.
