Subscription Update Obituary

Janice V. (Quintin) Niedzialkowski of 340 May St. passed away peacefully at her home Tuesday afternoon after a long battle with colon cancer. Her husband, Frederick F. Niedzialkowski, to whom she was married for 56 years, died in January. She was born on August 19, 1925 in Fall River, Mass. to Leo and Selina (Fontaine) Quintin. She was survived by her sister and dearest friend, Elsa Polewarczyk, four children, Diane Niedzialkowski and her husband Dan Farrow of Silver Spring, Maryland, Jim Niedzialkowski and his wife, Karin of Oxford, Massachusetts, Nancy Isabella and her husband Michael of Worcester, Massachsetts, and Beth Dutton and her husband Mark of Bradford Woods, Pennsylvania, a foster son, Jon Hutton of Worcester, Massachusetts, and eight grandchildren. Two brothers, Nelson and Norman Quintin, predeceased her.

Jan was educated in the Dighton School System, and moved to Worcester in 1945. She was a certified nursing assistant at Armstrong Nursing Home, and a foster parent for special needs children for over 25 years. She was an ardent advocate for improving public education, and ran for Worcester School Committee in the 1970s.

Jan was very loving and devoted to her family and friends, and was known for her warm and caring ways. She had a strong faith in God, and was a member of Immaculate Conception Church since the 1940s.

A funeral was held Saturday, April 9, 2005 from Caswell-King Funeral Home, 474 Grove St., Worcester with a Mass at 10 am in Immaculate Conception Church, 353 Grove St. Calling hours were from 5-8 pm Friday, April 8, 2005 in the funeral home. The family requested that donations be made to Mercy Center for Developmental Disabilities, 25 W. Chester St., Worcester, Massachusetts 01605.
